  Data Viewer

The Rubicon Toolbox Data Viewer allows you to construct a graphical view that displays, interprets and links several data types within a single layout. A common element for most graphs (or data "strips") is that data are related to a station position (typically a point in space such as a kilometre position, but it can also be a point in time, such as days after plant opening, etc). The data viewer also allows you to obtain feedback from data and to analyze your data statistically.

The Data Viewer can be used at project or network level. At project level, the Data Viewer allows engineers to graphically synthesize information of various types, such as photographic, numeric, text and graphical information. In addition, the Data Viewer also allows users to link graphical information on pavement condition directly to design calculations and tests within the same project (e.g. results from Backcalculation, Trial Pit Reports and DCP Tests). The compact synthesis of data then allows engineers to easily identify trends and causes of distress, and is particularly useful to determine uniform subsections and for planning of rehabilitation actions.

At the network level, the Data Viewer is used to compactly summarize pavement condition and group condition information into user-defined categories that can be colour coded for easy identification. Special statistical summary plots allow users to instantly aggregate data such as rutting or roughness into shorter subsections and display a statistical summary parameter (e.g. mean, median or percentile value) for each subsection.

The Data Viewer interacts with data in a Microsoft Access database, for which very little formatting requirements apply. Users can thus set up their own database with tables and fields as required for their data. Fields are then linked to the Data Viewer through an easy to use dialog, and the Data Viewer can be updated at any time to reflect changes in your data. The Data Viewer Layout is completely customizable. Graphical strips can be added, resized or moved as needed, to construct a unique and fully customized data layout.

The Data Viewer also provides instant feedback from the plotted image by means of mouse-click operations. Click on a point to view point or segment data, or drag an area to obtain a statistical summary for data in that area.

Key Features

  • The Data Viewer can be linked to a Microsoft Access Database anywhere on your network. Very few formatting requirements apply to the linked database. Construct your own tables and fields and link to the fields you want to plot;
  • Multiple plot types allow you to include scatter plots, bar plots, text strips, and graphical images (bitmaps etc.) on the same layout;
  • Special plot types perform instant grouping of data into (user-specified) shorter subsections and displays a selected statistic for each subsection;
  • Instantly classify your data into user-defined categories, each of which can be plotted in a different colour for easy identification;
  • Link your Data Viewer Layout to other project data such as Trial Pit information, DCP tests, Photographs and even Design Calculations. These links can then be activated by a mouse click, to enable full viewing and printing of related data;
  • MAS's specially designed visual assessment plot allows you to plot degree and extent data;
  • In Edit Mode, you can add, move, edit, resize and delete any of the plots in your layout. The Data Viewer layout is thus fully customizable;
  • In Feedback Mode, you can click on any point in the layout to obtain instant feedback about the data at that point. Alternatively, click and drag an area to obtain a detailed statistical report of the data in that area;
  • Backed by MAS's efficient and personalized customer support.
